I live in Idaho and have a concealed weapons permit so i have carried every day for the last 5 years, I miss San Diego and want to return but I have questions about firearms considering i have grown accustomed to having them with me all the time. First the shotgun question I have a shotgun that I sawed off the barrel to 18.5 inches just above legal and have a pistol grip on but i was worried that since I modified the barrel myself it may still be illegal. also can i keep this under the seat of my truck if it is unloaded? Also I had a couple questions about handguns first of all i know you have to lock them in a case while in the cab of my truck, if locked in a case do they need to be unloaded? also do i need to keep the magazines somewhere else, or is in the case ok? If i decide to open carry my pistol do i need to step out of my parked car to remove it from the case and holster it? or can i do that while sitting in the car? And one final question I have a kel-tec .380 which has a belt clip like a pocket knife, can i just clip this to my belt and leave the magazine in my pocket or do I need a physical holster? Oh one more thing when carrying my 9mm in a holster are there any certain parts of the gun that the holster has to cover or does it require a strap? I like the very minimalistic xd subcompact holsters but dont want to be in the wrong.

Thanks for your patience
Erik
I know its restrictive but i cant picture myself never carrying again I thought of one more question as well I know you can open carry with a belt holster but what about a shoulder holster? An uncovered shoulder holster is considered open carry in Idaho but then again its the wild west up here

Here's my situation. I'm getting ready to start my job as a Bail Enforcement Agent (Bounty Hunter) and i need to know how old you have to be to open carry a handgun in kansas cause im having trouble finding it all it mentions is conceal and carry not open and how old you have to be to buy one. im 18 by the way. oh and is it legal to buy a handgun from a friend or relative or is it legal to receive one from them as a gift?

My roommate and I were having a discussing about why Texas hasn't became a open carry state. But we were also wondering how many people in Texas really do have a CHL

Woo hoo..anyhow, I need to go get a nice handgun to carry. I have a 9mm Ruger right now that is way to big to conceal...Need ideas from people..I am thinking a nice small .45. New or used? Model? Thanks

I currently have a Walther P22. I love the gun's comfort and very small size which makes it very easy to conceal and very comfortable to shoot. This gun fits without a holster comfortably in my waste line on my side. I read several reviews and found that most people either love it or hate it. I'm kind of in between. It does like to jam if you do not keep the gun oiled frequently. I'm looking for something with a higher caliber with good reliability and around the same size as the P22. I do not particularly like Glock because I hate not having a hammer. So if anyone has any suggestions on a similar higher caliber but yet very small pistol with a hammer please let me know. I just need the same or similar dimensions and also light weight. Thanks.

I do not have a concealed carry license; the handgun would be carried in a locked case in the back of my car.

Federal authorities said this afternoon they have arrested eight people -- and are seeking a ninth -- with ties to the Drew Street clique of the Avenues gang on suspicion of drug trafficking and human smuggling.

Agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement served search and arrest warrants Tuesday night and this morning at locations in the Imperial Valley and Los Angeles.

One of the sites in the 2800 block of Avenue 34 in northeast L.A. was the base of operations for the alleged smuggling ring and served as a "drop house" before illegal immigrants were taken to their final locations, ICE spokeswoman Virginia Kice said in a prepared statement.

The ring charged people up to $4,500, provided phony immigration papers and smuggled the human cargo into the United States from Mexico by concealing them in trucks and hidden compartments of vehicles.

Some of the defendants face up to 30 years in federal prison if convicted on all counts.
A federal grand jury indictment names Teodoro Alvarez-Estrada, 56, and his wife, Aquilina Alvarez, 56. They were arrested after a search of their northeast Los Angeles home turned up three firearms, including a semiautomatic handgun and a .357 Magnum revolver, ICE officials said.

Also arrested were Eduardo Alvarez-Marquez, 35, of Los Angeles, and Holtville residents Martina Araceli Carreon, 44, and Jose Carreon, 47. Others in custody included Calexico residents Ruben Servin-Mejia, 37, and Maria Toledo-Fierros, 49, and Yesenia Rubi Mendoza-Gonzalez of Mexicali, Mexico.

The investigation into the smuggling ring began in August 2008 from information developed by the Los Angeles Police Department and federal authorities in their probe of crime tied to the Avenues street gang.

The ring is alleged to have smuggled over 200 illegal immigrants into the U.S. annually. Federal investigators said at one point the alleged smugglers were negotiating with Avenues gang members to bring Maria Leon, matriarch and shot-caller of the Drew Street clique, into the United States from Mexico.

Leon, now serving an eight-year federal prison sentence for racketeering crimes related to the Avenues street gang, eventually used another smuggling group, federal authorities said.

a?This case illustrates the disturbing ties weare increasingly finding between local street gangs and criminal organizations,a? said Kevin Kozak, deputy special agent in charge of the Los Angeles ICE office. a?ICE is working not only to target and dismantle violent street gangs, but also the criminal organizations that support the gangsa illegal activities.a?
Blanca Zendejas Nienhaus, an ACLU of California spokesperson, told about 15 people who huddled in the square during a rain-soaked morning press conference. "This has led to an atmosphere of terror where immigrants are afraid to contact police."

My Criminal Justice teacher presented this question for homework:

A man and his wife were returning to their car after seeing a movie. On the way through the parking lot, they observed three males walking towards them. The three were loud, boisterous, and using profanity. As the three approached the couple at about 100 feet away, the profanity was turned towards the couple. The male in the middle was about 6 feet tall, wearing a hooded sweatshirt pulled over his head, his hands in his pockets. The male to his left, about 5'6''/5'7'', wearing a backwards cap, had his hands behind his back. The third member was average height, 5'9'' or 5'10'' and had his left hand in his pants pocket. At approximately 50 feet from the couple, the three members of the group, as they were walking towards the couple, parted. The man in the middle continued straight towards them, the man to his left veered about 15 feet to the left, the other veering fifteen feet to the right, creating an ark. The male of the couple stopped walking and told the three men to stop where they are, do not come any closer, and that he had a concealed weapon. The three men continued walking towards them. The man pulled out his handgun and aimed at the three thugs. He warned them again, in a loud, clear voice. "DO NOT COME CLOSER OR I WILL SHOOT." The three men hesitated, but then began to walk quickly towards them. The shots were loud enough for two police officers on duty on the next block to hear. As the police arrived, the man holstered his weapon and was standing where he had fired, holding his wife who was sobbing uncontrollably. The police, guns drawn, observe three people down, not moving, a weapon on the ground next to the victim on the left, and a man holding a sobbing woman. Write, in order, the steps you would take concerning the scene.

Any help is appreciated. I don't have enough of an idea about police protocol to be able to answer this question confidently.

I am from Maine so it has to go by Maine State law please

Im in 9th grade and I have to write ANYTHING about anything, Here it is. This is the first part.

Chapter 1: General Doctor

Today in the small clinic of Cottonwood, New York, Dr. Freemore had noticed something odd. He woke up at 5:45 AM and ate breakfast as usual. He dressed up for work as a General Doctor and drove to work in the chilly day of fall. He was 34 years old and had practiced to be an Infectious Disease Specialist (IDS). An IDS would review a patientas medical records, including X-rays, laboratory reports, etc. He would check if his patientas had any type of disease including bacteria, virus, fungi, and parasites. But he wanted something simpler and that would make his life less complex and became a General Doctor. He still wasnat been married. He had no TV and a laptop, which he used for his work and nothing more. A big event could happen and he would be unaware of it. Matthewas life was very simple and relaxing until today.
During the last 3 months, 5 of his patients had experienced similar but odd symptoms, including nausea, fatigue, and most unusual of all, weakened muscle tissue. One of them passed away, his name was Oscar. Oscar was already 57 and weak, but still in good shape. He often traveled around the world to see the most exotic places. His death had been unexpected and family members had asked why. Dr. Freemore, also known as Matthew responded by saying that it was a bacteria that he caught when he traveled to Africa that attacked his organs. He knew that it was a lie but he might have become a suspect in his unexpected death, especially if Oscaras family had known about Freemoreas past records.
Matthew began to worry if this new disease would murder his other patients. He went home to relax and thought and even though he tried not to think about it, he did. 3 days went on and another of his 5 patients already died. This time it was a young female, about the age of 27. Her name was Jessica. She was slim and was originally from France. This time, Freemore knew that her family would get skeptical and eventually tell the cops. He found out when one his co-workers had told him. He grabbed a weekas worth of provisions; a couple of old clothes and ran away as soon as he heard sirens of the police in front of his small, isolated house.
He escaped through his rear door, in silence and disappeared into the midnight darkness. He did not know the streets well as he always drove to his job and never really went outside except to shop for food. As he walked he began to question where he could go. He didnat really have a a?reala? companion in the last couple of years. Matthew just though and though as he kept walking to the middle of nowhere until he wasa nowhere. He turned around and maybe he could he could retrace his steps. No luck. He was in the middle of a parking lot, the size for a shopping center. The only thing making him see was a dim light near him from a lamppost that kept blinking. Matthew began to get anxious and took a pill from his briefcase. His black suit made him somewhat concealed with the darkness, except for his white shirt and his skin that was beginning to get pale.
a?Hello? Is anybody out there?a? he loudly stammered. Hoping to get a response, he became even more nervous and checked his cell phone. No signal. He moved on and maybe, just maybe somebody would be waiting for him. He wanted somebody to be close to him and regretted running away from the cops. And thatas when he first heard the footsteps. It was a few feet in front of him. Possibly someone or something heard him when he yelled for help. No, it couldnat have been something. Matthew was smart enough not to believe in any of this stuff.
Of course, he had prepared when he left the house, so he bought a handgun. It was a Browning Hi-Power, (which looked like an average handgun) but he did not exactly how to shoot it. He unlocked the safety and tried pointing forward as professional as possible.
a?Who is that?a? he said is a smooth loud calm voice. As the footsteps got closer, the dim light showed the footsteps was a human figure. He wanted to yell but what if it was someone who wanted to hurt him? His sweat began to touch his shaved beard and his hands began to sway.
a?Ahhhhhh!!!a?
He ran as fast as possible and shot his gun backward toward the a?humana? as he was yelling in fear. He couldnat possibly shoot a human but he didnat want to get hurt. His veins were pumping with adrenaline and he did not bother to think for one second. He was panting and was running really fast. He ended up in a glass door....

You ask why 10mm, it's really for the stopping power (for both handgun hunting and self defense).

The .45 and .40 I haven't ruled out and there seem to be valid points about comparable stopping power and ammo costs.

I've considered the Glock 20, but I'm unsure. One says it blows up, but many people really like it, so I've heard mixed things. I kind of like how Glocks feel.

While where the safety release is is a main concern for a left-hander, having a magazine release on both sides would be nice as well. It's probably too much to ask to try to find a gun that ejects the brass out the left side.

I wouldn't really consider learning to shoot right-handed as my main hand since I'm also left-eyed, but I of course will learn to shoot with both hands with all weapons I own.

I'm open to .40 and .45 calibers, but the 10mm is a good dual caliber for stopping power in both humans and relatively large animals compared to smaller calibers.

I never will understand the logic in preventing someone under 21 from buying/owning a handgun "depending on the state" will somehow prevent shootings in this age group? But when your 18 and up you can just as easily buy an AK semi auto rifle or a 12 gauge semi auto shotgun that can maim and kill large groups of people much easier then a typical handgun ever will.

Yes I have heard the handgun is easier to conceal BS.You can just as easily take a guitar case or a large gym bag have the rifle put in and not be alerted by anyone if you casually stroll through a shopping center. And if someone intends to commit a massacre all he has to do is pull the rifle out of the bag and open fire and if he is highly skilled with the rifle he can put a large number of people down with controlled well aimed shots with the rifle.
Even just going on a full on rampage will end up with people dead and police still taking time to respond.

If we trust 18 year olds with rifle's and shotgun's why not handgun's?
Give me a logical argument why you think the 21 law on handgun's is logical and constitutional?

This question was posted 2 years ago and, at the time, the answer was a definite "no". I know there's been some recent changes in legislature but I'm still very unclear on the subject.

My question refers to concealed carry of handguns, not rifles or other hunting-oriented weapons.

I am a CCW holder in Florida and Georgia reciprocates with Florida on concealed weapons permits. So I'm legal to carry elsewhere in Georgia, but I'm not sure about national forests. I'll be camping/hiking in Desoto Falls & the Appalachian trail later on this month and I want to do my homework before I arrive.
OK, here's the answer. When I posted this, I was waiting for a callback from the Forest Supervisor's office. Apparently Georgia isn't like Florida in that, when they say they'll call back, they actually do call back. (Florida never calls back). So I was told that the recent changes in legislate applies more to National Parks than to National Forests. National Forests fall under Georgia's laws. But the answer is....

Georgia's laws DO permit a concealed weapons permit holder to carry a concealed firearm in National Forests, so long as you do not enter a federal building. He reminded me that the visitor's center is a federal building and therefore off-limits. But as far as camping and hiking go, you're good to go so long as you have either a Georgia permit, or a permit from a reciprocating state (such as Florida).

I'm going hiking in Tenn this dec and was wondering if i could carry a Handgun with me if it's not concealed? I live in Ga.

I have read a little into it but the details get a little hairy. This is what I have read so far:
"(1) A person may not wear or carry a dangerous weapon of any kind concealed on or about the person.
(2) A person may not wear or carry a dangerous weapon, chemical mace, pepper mace, or a tear gas device openly with the intent or purpose of injuring an individual in an unlawful manner."

So do this mean it is legal (or an arguable case) to carry a 'weapon' as defined by:
"'Weapon' includes a dirk knife, bowie knife, switchblade knife, star knife, sand-club, metal knuckles, razor, and nunchaku.
(ii) "Weapon" does not include:
1. a handgun; or
2. a penknife without a switchblade."
in plain sight?

In short (I guess this would have been easier to ask), could I carry a fixed blade bowie knife in a leather sheathe unconcealed on my belt for self defense with no intent or purpose of injuring an individual in an unlawful manner? I have seen some people do this and I was not sure on the legalities of it.

Oh and the "unlawful manner" part, is there really a "lawful manner" of injuring an individual on purpose? Seems redundant to me.

Again, I know i'm asking very very noob questions, but you have to start somewhere, and I'm trying to learn as much as I can online, without looking like an idiot to the range masters while target shooting and trying to decide on a weapon. I'd rather look stupid to strangers, and besides, some of you guys have really good information that can help me.

Ok here goes, for example....I saw someone with a 1911 today and saw that the hammer was pulled back/engaged/pulled back. I asked him if he feels safe with the hammer pinned back all day with concealed carry and he said he had no problem. The M1911 apparently has 2 or 3 safeties, slide safety, grip safety, etc. But my question is if you rack the 1911, it automatically pulls the hammer back to ready/fire mode, however if you decide to hit the hammer release button, or just pull the hammer back down...will the gun still fire when the hammer is not engaged? I know the gun won't fire if the hammer does not move, but isnt the 1911, or similar guns D.A.? Which means when they pull the trigger, isnt the job of the trigger to pull back the exposed hammer and then bang it against the bullet? So if thats the case, why keep the hammer engaged and ready at all times? Why not rack the slide, keep one in the chamber, hit the hammer release, and then if you have to fire the weapon, when you pull the trigger the hammer will go back to firing position and then slam down hard therefore creating force to discharge the weapon.

I guess i'm just wondering why hammers are exposed in the first place. I know a manually hammer draw is better on a revolver because it relieves the tension and transforms into a hairtrigger, but does manually cocking the hammer on a semi-auto do the same thing? does it bring the trigger back some so you only need to do a hair-line squeeze to discharge the round? You always see in a movies with a character, holding a semi-auto, talking to the badguy, and the badguy says something the cop didnt want to hear, and the cop pulls back the hammer clearly saying "i'm about to shoot you", but if they dont pull that hammer back, the gun will still fire because there is already one in the chamber...so why the need to pull the hammer back. and also, to add to that question, how can the hammer NOT be back if the gun is racked and cocked and ready to go, unless they did what i mentioned above, and hit the hammer release button? any help?

Im looking for a handgun to conceal. it must be a 45. ACP. no revolvers. and im NOT really looking to buy a glock. any ideas?

Can I have it Unloaded in the car? I know i cant have it on me Concealed and I have seen stuff about not having ammunition in the gun or within arms length. What are the restrictions?
I am in TN if that helps
ok after going and reading my state laws. Still hard t understand. First I know i can buy a handgun from a gun show or private seller (2nd party) but I noticed it talks about MINORS having handguns with them not Adults without a carry permit. The laws say i must be 21 to purchase from a dealer and 21 to get a carrying permit.

Looking to buy a handgun when I move into my new place. Call it a "housewarming gift." Eventually going to get concealed carry permit before its too late.

Anti-Gun individuals need not answer. I don't need to hear nor do I care about your bleeding heart answers.

1) If I'm from or working for a State that does not require Bail Enforcement Licensing, but in State that does require licensing while looking for my Bail Jumper in that State, how do I Identify myself as a true Bail Enforcement Agent but have no license because I'm from another State? Do I at least let the police know who or what I am & where I'm from? Do I have to be in the proper age as well? (For example, let's say I'm from Maryland age 21, but in New Jersey that requires Bail Enforcement Agents to be age 25.)

2) What specific criminal justice classes &/or non criminal justice classes should I take in either a 2 year or community college?

3) Would I be allow to carry a concealed handgun with me during a recovery mission, but as long as I'm licensed?

4) Would Police Training from a police department in a city I live in would also be avalible to me as a Bail Enforcement Agent?

5) How does Bail Enforcement Background Checks works? How detailed are they? And what could prevent &/or disqualify me from becoming a Bail enforcement Agent, in any State?

Are Off Duty Police Officers allowed to take and possess their handguns at home even if they aren't working. Also, are police officers allowed to carry concealed when they're off duty?

Gun control has never one time in history been proven to equal crime control. All the statistics I can find show that throughout history gun control has never worked. Take Australia, Great Britain, and the District of Columbia for example. In the US the states with the lowest per-capita gun violence and overall crime rate are the ones with the almost non existing gun laws. If guns cause crime, why do states like Montana where 95% of the populace is armed have such a low crime rate. The number of guns in the US has been increasing year after year, yet our crime rate has been steadily dropping. 38 states have seen a drop in their crime rate after enacting concealed carry laws. DC banned handguns, immediately afterward their crime rate skyrocketed while the rest of the countries went down. California has a much higher than average gun violence, yet they have the strictest gun laws in the country. So since no one has ever been able to show a case of gun control equaling crime control why do 65% of liberals despise guns? What is your true agenda? Also, why do you mention hunting when referring to the second amendment? What part of the second mentions hunting or target shooting? We all would like to see less gun violence, so why will so many liberals not get behind something that works? When you get rid of guns you have an environment where only criminals are armed, therefore they are far braver than they would be if they knew there was a good chance their victims could be armed.
I am an Independent. My opinion is both parties are corrupt, so this has nothing to do with the right. I'm asking this based on a debate I participated in in school. I just want to gain some info as to why so many Liberals support stricter gun laws when the ones we have don't work. I am for background checks, and anything that will truly help keep criminals and the mentally ill from obtaining guns. That is where it ends though, laws that do basically nothing but create red-tape for the law-abiding I see no use for.
Wow some of you ppl are so fucking stupid. Like the "cows in Montana" comment. Please look up per-capita please.

TD, could you share the statistics that show the states with lenient gun laws have as much if not more crime please? The answer is, no, I bet you can't. It simply isn't true so good luck with that.
LOL Paul RN, you are a classic example of just how fucking ignorant the gun grabbers are. Your answer is so baseless, and without fact it is pointless to even respond to. According to the most recent polls only 3% of America feels gun control is an important issue, while 73% of us feel the laws we have are enough. 44% thinks we have too many useless gun laws that do not work. Point is, my question is mainly driven by curiosity. The people with the "all guns are bad" mindset are so few it doesn't really matter what drives your ridiculous opinions.
Luke, if its the guns doing this why have the countries that have virtually disposed of guns not seen a drop in gun violence and their murder rates? I encourage you to do some research on the subject. For starters look and see who commits 0ver 80% of our gun crimes. Cars, cigarettes, swimming pools, and fast food kill far far far far more children than guns so do these things need to be banned? Ever wonder why school shootings didn't happen 50 years ago? Back then children had much more access to guns than they do now, they could walk into any hardware store, convenient stores, etc and buy them. Yet they never thought about shooting up their students. Notice that every major shooting in this country has happened in an area where the left has successfully banned guns, leaving ppl defenseless.

I am trying to find out what the stipulations are to qualify for the conceal and carry license in kansas. Or find a website that lists what the rules are to obtain the license?

Do you need a concealed carry or does it have to be unloaded etc.

Do you need to do anything to purchase a gun in VA from a private sale? I would like to buy a gun from a friend of mine who is selling it. Do I need to have it registered or do something formally? I have read up a bit on purchasing in VA and they all discuss buying from a store or dealer. Also, once I purchase it do I need to do anything else? I read that you need a licenses for conceal carry (Concealed Handgun Permit) but I do not intend on carrying this. It is simply to have in the home.

p.s. Yes, I am of age (33yrs) and no, I donat have children.

Thanks!

I am looking for a handgun to use as self defense. I want something that is easy to use and that I can conceal when I get my concealed weapon permit.
My husband and I seen a Charter Arms Pink Lady and it seems pretty nice.
Does anyone have any comments about the gun. I really like how it comes in pink, b/c it's different. Is there any other handguns that anyone recommends that is a good value and less than $400?

I'd also like to be able to take the gun to the range to shoot around also.
Thanks

So I have never shot a gun before. I am moving to downtown kansas city because I wanna be closer to the night life. However, as in most big cities, downtown is a somewhat shady spot. My brother and I were wanting to get a handgun, either a beretta or a glock, and a shotgun, either a charles daly or winchester. We're gonna go get our conceal and carry license and hit the shooting range. What recommendations would you make?

Serious answers only please

Thank you
I am a middle school teacher, so i understand the importance of safety and education. We're not moving til Dec. so over the next 2 months we plan on going to the range and learning how to use them correctly.

I will be a small arms/artillery repairman in the Army. I want to carry a handgun in my civilian life also. Self defense.

I'm not sure what to get for a dependable and easy to conceal handgun Conceal Carry. Right now I own three hand guns, I have a Ruger GP100 357 magnum revolver (way too big for CCW), A Ruger P89DC 9mm (too fat for CCW), and then a little Hi-Point C9 which is a smaller gun lengthwise, but it's actually fatter than my P89DC!
I like the look of the Bersa Thunder, but have never shot one. Is this a good reliable pistol, or do you have any other suggestions?
Thanx!

If I want teachers to be able to carry (concealed) handguns in school in a state that currently doesn't allow it...who should I contact?

Should I contact my local congressman? Who should I write to? How often should I write? Do I need a petition?

Thanks

What I Mean By Gun Friendly Is They Will Be OK With Me Going To Work With a Can of Pepper Spray+ Handgun+Knife Concealed On Me.

My friend thinks he can wave it around wherever he wants! Even in a parking lot.

There are several points to consider as you answer:

1. States that have very strict gun control laws do not help to curb gun violence, but only make it easier for criminals to commit crimes with firearms.

2. Why is everyone who owns a firearm considered a hillbilly, redneck, militant, or nutcase? There are many responsible gun owners who are not rednecks or militants. And they're certainly not nutcases!

3. Gun Ownership is Not about hunting! So many Liberal politicians want to keep up the notion that its all about hunting. Its about self-defense, target practice, gun collecting, sports, home/family protection, and then hunting.

4. If the govt. starts taking away guns through gun confiscation, and this not about Obama paranoia, I mean like over a period of years through stricter gun legislation, what will you do about it?

5. Concealed Carry Should be allowed in all states with Shall Issue laws, allowing all persons who pass background checks, mental health tests, and safety training, and registration to be able to possess rifles and handguns.

6. And finally, should college students, or at least teachers, be allowed to have guns on campus, assuming they pass all the exams required to have a gun to reduce things like VA Tech and Columbine incidents from happening?

I am getting my CHL soon as well as joining the US Army. When I am off base but in my ACUs, will I be able to carry if I'm in a state that recognizes my CHL?
Thanks for the answers so far. To be a little more specific, here's a scenario:
My wife and I live off base and we head into town for some errands while I'm still in ACUs. Am I right in understanding that while in ACUs I cannot carry a personal firearm on my person?

k, i know you need a permit to carry a concealed handgun. but is that all that a concealed weapon permit will allow you to carry? i mean, could someone with a concealed weapon permit carry something weird, like a machete or a pair of sai? or would they need a different type of permit for that?

I was reading up on the permit to carry laws here in CA and I have a question... Besides places that have something like "no firearms beyond this point" (like a courthouse or something) what are some types of places that a person with a permit to carry a concealed weapon not carry a gun? I am a college student so if I got the permit, am I able to carry a concealed gun into class?

Hi. This is for a novel, but I know little about handgun laws.

How long does it take to receive a Utah CHP? I know how long the class is and I know what the fees are- I'm just wondering how long it takes for the state to process fingerprints/ID background check etc.
Here in Texas it's about 6 months so I'm trying to see if I can cut that time down a little.

My wife is a teacher and I want to know if it is legal for her to have a pistol in her car on school property.
By the way, I live in Alabama. Specifics would be great...
The problem isn't with the school. I just want her to be able to carry it on a regular basis. Not having to take it in and out of the house all the time.

Im hoping i get my concealed weapons permit soon...im going to apply this week.

So i started looking around and ive found some awesome guns but i think since its going to be my first handgun i should own something that is lightweight, durable, easy to clean, and wont jam up on me...
I've had people tell me to get a revolver (and i probably will at one point or another) but i also want a pistol with a metal frame and id like to learn to take it apart, clean it and maybe add some stuff to it.i have a friend who can help me get started especially when it comes to different attachments and upgrades ( he has...off the top of my head a hundred guns, and not one of them looks how it did when he bought them ) so any suggestions would be appreciated and if you have a link that would be cool too.
.357 magnum, good gun, looks great but im not going for a revolver at first i want a pistol that is lightweight and easy to maintain.
thank you fred p........ and thanks for the tips...the gun i carry will be very small and simple (no attachments) but i would also like to collect guns and take them to the range so i will add things to some of my guns...my grandfather has been collecting guns for many years (war days) and when he passes he said ill get some of them...THANKS AGAIN!

No to conceal carry

Okay, I was in class today debating on what really is consider self defense. A student gave us this scenario:

A guy walks down a street and is confronted by 3 attackers, none with visible weapons. They assaulted the guy a couple of times, until the guy pulls out this concealed handgun. As the guy points the gun and warns all, 1 of the 3 attackers rushes forward towards the guy. The guy then pulls the trigger and kills the approaching attacker. As the other 2 fled, the guy calls the cops...

My question is, in this situation, would the guy be able to calm self defense or is he the attacker in return? Would someone in this situation get charges press on him? Just need to know would people thought. Thanks

I have 3 rifles and 4 Handguns,...I will be moving from Virgina to Colorado. What are the laws for transporting weapons in your vehicle cross country? I also have a VA Concealed Handgun License How does that affect my travel?

Can i use a standard hip holster and cover it with my shirt?

concealed its in my purse. Would I be in any violation of any laws? If so if I was caught what would happen to me? What would the penalties be?
