i just got new "fake" flowmasters put on my car, he only told me they were chrome and probably wouldnt rust for a long time unless i ran into something or if they got scratched. i have had it for about 2-3 weeks and ive slowly started 2 see more and more surface rust on the inside of the tips. i dont no if maybe its just breaking in or something or is it a problem that i should get addressed. thanks
I am at an exhaust place about to get dual exhaust on my 09 silverado. They offer chrome tip flowmaster for 170.00 or stainless steel flowmaster tips for 300.00. Is stainless really that much better?

I own a 2000 Volkswagen Golf GTI, and it has the muffler with the turn down exhaust tips. The rear bumper doesn't have a cut out for the exhaust tips, and I was wondering how I could extend the existing tips down and under the rear bumper to add chrome tips on the end of them. I need some kind of elbow to connect to the existing tips so I can make them go straight out under the bumper. If anyone has any advice or ideas, please help. Thanks
its a 1996 gmc 1500 truck with 5.7 vortec and truck still had a heck of alot of power and life left but the other day i get in my truck to go to work . and the truck was running like crap like it was bogging out , it will shake and vibrate alot around 2200 rpm and it just has no power .also the truck has true dual exhaust and the left side dosent have a solid air flow coming out of it . it kinda sputters and try's to suck/pull your hand back into it . nobody could have messed with my gas cause i got a locking cap . but the day before this happend it was running perfect . park it for the night ,go out there the next day and this hapn's . i pulled the plugs out and a few plugs were foulded and oily but most plugs were white as a ghost like it was running extremely lean . and on the white tip plugs if you look down the whole length of the plug and look at the threads in the right light , the threads are black but they have a slight purple/blue tint to them like when chrome/metal get's really hot and change's color . any ides of what could have caused this ?
I need help with customizing my 92 cadillac eldorado. It is white with black pinstriping. I am just looking for custom accessories to go with it. I would like you to give your ideas, and also list websites for me to look at please. I already have a system in it, with the amp mounted to the plexiglass back. The two subs are both in glass boxes that are inside a cutout in the carpet trunk. Going to put red neon light in trunk so when you lift up trunk it illuminates the system which is also red. I have my eyes on a billet grille, also on hid headlights. Already have 20 inch Lexani rims on it, flip out cd player, woodgrain dash kit, special edition chrome decal thing on back. Also have extra cadillac crest mounted on left side of trunk, and also on glove box inside of car. Have an aftermarket woodgrain steering wheel, and also aftermarket exhaust. It is a flowmaster dual pipe, and have brand new chrome tips placed on exhaust system. If there is anything else that you think would be cool of me to do with my cadi, please help me out. I want to take this car to competitions so I need your best ideas, thanks.
My current vehicle's exhaust tip is looking old and rusty. I really don't know about cars but I was curious about installing an exhaust tip on there for it to look better. But my question is, what does those chrome exhaust tips actually do? Is it more for the looks or performance? I saw a chrome exhaust tip on Amazon for cheap, does it take along time to install, do you have to remove anything?
Please give me any information on exhaust tips.
Thank you

I want to make my 2001 Renault Clio Mk3 more unique, make it a head turner for other reasons then loud exhaust and body-kits.
What it already has:
Black in colour
Tinted windows (sunroof, boot lid and rear passenger windows)
17" Fox Racing alloys
Personal number plate
Green interior neon's (front foot wells, rear seats and boot)
Green interior trim
Custom gear nob
Infinity parcel shelf speakers
Infinity front door speakers
FLI 1000 watt bass amplifier
Seat covers
Custom green racing steering wheel
Some exterior chrome trim
Alloy front grilles
Red Renault bonnet badge
Slimline PS2 installed with a custom radio (built in screen)
(looking for 'Lambo door hinges' at the moment)
I know it seems like a fair amount when its listed but I really enjoy working on it. I don't really want to apply body-kits etc yet as i only actually passed my test 3 days ago so my insurance is bad as it is.
I'm looking for unique (or unusual) exterior AND interior mods. I like a challenge so any type of mod is welcome to suggestion.
Thanks in advance
i own a bus and is it legal if the exhaust system was leaking and i cut the pipe (about 5 feet off the total system) and clamped the chrome tip on it is that legal?
no, the converter is not affected and it is past the rear wheels. and does not have to pass emissions in Illinois. is that TxDot law or Applicable to Illinois
Hey everyone just want some tips and tricks on my car for both performance and looks.
I have a 2003 model Honda Integra BASE model - aka Acura RSX for overseas ppl (pls don't say u shoulda got the type S or R etc i didnt have the extra 10-15K at the time)..
The car already is pearl white with 19inch black konig rims with chrome polished lip, a type R body kit is fitted all round and i've got a full exhaust system with a pod filter connected to a pipe to the engine... the car is factory height (any tips on how far to lower it without going too too far to the ground i still need to be able to get over speed humps lol if anyone knows king springs that'll be good for me)
Basically i just wanted to know what people like in terms of looks for my car, spoiler no spoiler - atm it has the base spoiler which i dont really like, performance options (without a turbo because im a provisional drive and am restricted to turbo'd cars) and yea u all know wat i mean :) any engine mods and brands as well.
Thanks in advance!
I have a silverado with the 5.3 vortec. I have a cat back exhaust system on my truck, but its wayyy to quiet. I dont know who the exhaust is made by. There is no badges or names, or anything on any of the exhaust parts..anywhere. My muffler also has about 4 cracks on top and bottom of it. would it be more beneficial to get another cat back system, or just replace to muffler to make it louder? My chrome tips are starting to rust also..
I want to get long tube headers too.
I was recently searching amongst craigslist and me, needing a car, stumbled upon a 68 Mustang coupe. It has a 200 CID 6 cylinder engine with about 10000 miles on it. The interior is flawless, new everything. On the exterior the paint is a really nice burgundy that has lots of shine with little scratches and one SMALL spot of rust, nothing big. Here are some more specs of the engine/car:
3 Speed Automatic
Clifford Dual Exhaust Header (new)
American Racing Rims
2 bbl Holley Carb (new)
Engine Block Refitted with 1972 Cylinder Head
New Exhaust with 2 Glass Packed Flowmasters and Magna chrome tips.
Power Steering
Panasonic MP3 Playing CD player w/ remote
Speakers: 2 Front 3 Way Panasonic 180w (8inch) and 2 Rear Panasonic 4 Way 300w(6x9) Speakers are both TS-A.
New Front and Rear Gabriel Shocks
New Battery, Solenoid, and Starter
Center Arm Rest/Storage Console
Floor Mats.
The car runs really strong and has always been garaged. I was just wondering if this is a good deal for $4800 OBO. Thanks and any suggestions are always welcome.
Also, what is your guess on how many horses this car has.
it is a 2007 ford f150 lariat edition, supercrew, 29000 miles, mostly highway miles, almost all options. now for the good stuff, aftermarket exhaust (dual cat back), chrome tips, roush stage 2 supercharger with roush f150 badges, pioneer avic d3 stereo/nav system/dvd player. everything was professionally installed.
kbb gives me 22 grand without all the aftermarket parts.
its not the roush version, it had a roush supercharger installed after it was bought.
Ok first im gonna remove all my old exhaust system and replace it with 2 pieces of 2.5" pipe then on each seperate piece of pipe i was going to put a vortex or a pro on. then keep running the pipe down till the end of my box and put a short glass pack on each pipe with one of those chrome glasspack tips. would this work? and if it does would it sound nice? i have a v6 4.2l and i havent ever done any of this before so if im totally off please tell me. but if anyone can help me out that would be greatly appreciated. (please dont suggest a different type of muffler im stickin with the cherrybombs.)
I just got my exhaust re-done. I have a '99 Silverado 1500 with a 5.3L V8
Before: No stock cats, just a piece of pipe where they should be (I had two), 3" piping from them down to a Dynomax muffler (not sure what type) then through one high-flow cat (yeah I know, stupid mechanic doesn't know what he's doing), then it splits off into duals coming out the side at a 45 degree angle with 3" chrome slash-cut tips.
After: Got two high-flow cats put back in the stock position (so the O2 sensors can actually get readings), got the other cat taken off and put a piece of pipe in it's place (so just the Dynomax is there), then it splits off into my duals again with stainless-steel rolled tips.
Now, it sounds pretty cool, but I'm extremely picky with my exhaust sound, I've gone through about 6+ exhaust systems, no joke. I just want to know if, instead of having some cheap $40 muffler, switching it out for a Flowmaster or Magnaflow in place, would it have a louder sound? Because I like to have a nice crackle at higher RPMs.
Also, I don't want to just take the muffler off and put a piece of pipe in its place. Yes, I've had that before and it sounds nice, but I just want a nicer muffler.
I wanna hear some opinions!
I've noticed that Magnaflow is much more expensive then Flowmaster after comparing their website prices. Is me cheaping out going to kill my sound?

I found a chrome exhaust tip lying in the gutter at uni and obviously i picked it up, aware of it's apparent value. The tip i found is slightly larger that my current stock exhaust on my little toyota hatchback and it's not a bolt on exhaust tip. Has anybody got any tips as to how i might go about fitting this tip?
I am 20 and have been asking girls out for well over a year since I have been in Washington. I have never really had a girlfriend, could I come by too "needy?" I am a little shy, but have gotten over the "no." It hurt a few times, but it gets easier. There were a few girls who I would have climbed Mount Everest just to hear "yes", but that all went down like the titanic. There were two girls this year, but they ended up using me and playing a mind game with me (they could sure kiss good, the first one was the first time I kissed a girl...well they kissed me, but I was really nervous). I just can't seem to find a girl who will go out with me-not even one date. They say I am not their type. I have been in the Air Force for about 2 years, have been living here in Washington for a year and four months. How do they even know what type I am if I don't get a chance? Why don't girls make it easier for guys once in a while, I am not a creep. I am a good guy, I would be more than willing to take her out on a nice date, I have been wanting to try this place called the Ram. I heard it was a really nice steak house, but DONT want to go alone. I would be willing to pay for everything, whatever. Any help here (hints) to what I could be doing wrong, or something to make me more successful? I really ain't old enough to go to a bar and pick up a drunk girl to go eat with me (Probably a lot easier if I could, maybe she would be too drunk and give me a chance...lol I am not looking for sex, just a girlfriend really.) I am a virgin. I really don't want a whore or nothing, I would prefer a nice girl I care for and have known for a little while. I am a cowboy and drive a pick-up truck. I am a small town southern man. I am not willing to change my style. It would be like lying to her because what I wear and what I drive is me. I am a real cowboy. I just want some hints on how I could...well I don't know. I just want help, I am getting to the point where I just want to see the world burn. I haven't had any luck lately. Someone tried to steal my tool box from the back of my truck, they stole some tools, stole the chrome tips from my exhaust pipes, they broke the horse that sat on the ball receiver of my truck (evidently someone don't like me too much). I found out I won't be deploying this summer. I just want something good to happen to me. Help please? Any ideas will be much appreciated. Thank y'all.
Sorry about the novel yall.
I just saw a chrome resonator exhaust tip and thought about putting it on my truck. I was looking at it and around the inside it has a plate with holes in it which I assume is what produces the sound. I then began to wonder if the thing was really just junk. Has anybody ever had one of these before?
a 2003-2006 Ford Expedition? I'm going to purchase the Muffler Tip on Ebay and these are the measurements they gave
Length 10 1/4"
Inlet I.D. 2 1/2"
does that length mean 10 1/4 Inches? and does the Inlet I.D. mean 2 1/2 inches?
anyways so would the F150 Muffler tip fit on a factory exhaust tip of an Expedition?
I am looking for a good deep throaty sounding exhaust for my v8 trans am, almost like a Knight Rider Mustang deep exhaust sound. Can someone tell me what would be the best to get? Should I just put a 80 series muffler on or should i get a catback to go on with it, along with some chrome tips? I want it to be a deep sound but i dont want it really loud at idle.
1998 trans am
Ok, here's the deal. I recently purchased a 98 Silverado K1500 (350 5.7). It's got the stock muffler on it and runs entirely too quiet for me. I've done some research & am going to be putting a Flowmaster super 40 on it soon. My question is this... As far the dual exhaust goes should I go the cheap route and just get the turn downs that end over the rear axle or should I go ahead and pay extra to have the pipes exit out the rear with the chrome tips. The price difference is about $100. Is there really any sound difference? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
I'm looking for some good cheap exhaust tips for my 2002 ford escape. I'm tryin to find a 12" chrome tip, but others are fine. So where can I find some? I've already checked ebay.
I have a 99 chevy 2 doro tahoe and with a flowmaster super 44 installed. I want a more basey sound and louder how can i achieve this? all i have is the muffler and then the stock chevy tip. could i get dual exhaust or do something with the tip? get a new chrome tip? thanks.
i have a 99 chevy 2 door tahoe and i already have a flowmaster super 44 but i want it a little louder would dual exhaust pipes change the sound at all? and how much does that run for? putting 2 chrome tips on and installing the dual pipes?
I'm driving a 1997 Honda Accord EX.
On the car now:
-DEPO Euro Taillights (carbon fiber and chrome)
-Aftermarket spoiler
-Large chrome exhaust tip
-Silver painted spoke aftermarket rims
-Slotted and drilled brake disks on front and back
So whats the next step on the car? What are some other simple things I can do to improve the look of the car? I don't really have the money for a body kit or to get the entire car painted.
Thanks in advance!
I'm looking mostly for the exterior of the car. I'm starting with the exterior then the interior is next.
I own a 05' Chevy Monte Carlo 3.8 3800 and I have the 2 dual pipes all factory with the mufflers, but I wanted to put the (Magnaflow exhaust)set up on it.
Do i need to change everything or can I just change the mufflers and put the chrome stainless steel tips on there? or do I have to change the whole entire set up?
What's an estimate of the cost?
I have an 01 escort and i have been beefing it up on the outside(tinted windows, chrome tip exhaust, new grille, and soon some new wheels) and i have been wondering, do you think it would be possible to fit a small block V6 from the ford contour into mine. Its the 2.5 ford duratec engine and the contours arent much bigger than the escorts.
I have quad exhaust tips on my Grand Am GT and they are staring to dull and lose their shine. What kind of paint can I use that has a chrome finish that will hold up to the high heat of the exhaust? And where can I get it?
I have shotgun exhaust pipes on my motorcycle, while I was riding in the rain, my rear tire slipped out from underneath me, I was able to control the bike, however, a section a my lower pipe received some pretty good scratches. Anyone have any cost efficient repair tips?
A new Y-pipe, and cat, leading into a flowmaster single-in, dual-out muffler, and dual pipes with chrome tips. How much would this cost me to have put on? Thanks for any help.
it's a 98 chevy 1500
How much would you say it costs to have maybe about 15 inches of a tailpipe cut off and have a chrome tip welded on?
What are some good ways to protect chrome exhaust tips?
The tip I was looking for has these really long but skinny bolts to tighten onto the tail pipe. now they are going to look stupid when they are stick out because obviously i cant tighten them all the way. what should I do?
From what I read, resonated tips some what quiet a car down. Is there a way to make them not quiet them down? Or even make it louder. Or would I be better off with a non resonated tip?
My tailpipe is 2" in diameter. So what size inlet should I get?
The inside diameter is 1" 14/16
I have a 1997 Dodge Dakota, and when I bought it it had a very nice set of dual exhaust chrome tip pipes. It also had a nice rumble to it. Now here is where the problem lies. I want the rumble gone without putting a whole new exhaust on it. Because I can't exactly sneek out with it in this current condition, and I don't like people hearing me 500 miles down the street. So does anyone know how to make it go away without a new exhaust?
Ive have recently decided to sell my truck. Its a white B2500, 2WD, Single Cab, with 67,000 miles on it.
Since I bought the truck I have put 10 inch custom alloy rims on it, an Alpine stero with an ipod adapter, L.E.D. glow lights under the dash and seats, viper security system with remote entry, and I welded on a chrome exhaust tip onto it.
Im selling it because its too slow and because there aren't very many aftermarket parts available for it (ex: euro tail lights).
Is $4000.00 a reasonable asking price for the truck?
Ive been looking at mitsubishi eclipses and they seem to be pretty solid cars with plenty of aftermarket parts available.
What do you guys think? Is it a reasonable price?
What about Eclipses? Are they a good car for racing?
Yeah AC blows Ice cold and the truck has bedliner, leather, seats, new tires, and new brakes pads.
I was looking at either a 97 or 98 GSX eclipse. The new eclipses are garbage indeed.
Does the tip glow as the exhaust gets hotter, is it powered by l.e.d, or is it just a marketing strategy- a lil' photo shop? Are they worth buying or should I just stick with a standard exhaust tip? p.s. i'm planning on replacing the exhaust system on my 96 chevy c1500-- any suggestions. I think i'm going with a dual flow master system.
Somehow there is a small scrape on the top of the chrome exhaust tip of my 2008 Honda Accord Coupe. I have no idea how it got there, but some friends have told me it might be from heat. It did not hit my rear bumper because there is no scratch/dent in the actual bumper that would lead me to believe there was a collision between them. The scrape is pretty small (approx 1.5 inches in length), and is not very noticeable, but it really bugs me. The scrape is smooth and does not dent or dig into the actual exhaust tip, but there is an obvious scratch that took away the chrome in that area. Is there any way to fix this? I've heard it is practically impossible to do unless I am willing to get the entire tip re-done with chrome, but I really do not want to go that far. It does not necessarily have to be shiny like it would be with chrome, but I would like to try and possibly just get rid of the scratch. Any good solutions or advice you could give me? Thanks a bunch.
