I'm looking at buying a Rock Island Armory 1911 as a base gun for upgrading because I heard they are good. I know they are colt knock offs but I have heard good stuff about them.
I just want to know if they are made to GI specs so they will fit the parts I buy.
I'm thinking about a occupation that involves making weaponry and parts to weapons. I just want to know if you make your own guns do you get to keep them. (EX Colt 1911, M9 berreta)
The requirements are it needs to be compact, hold 7 or more rounds, be either a 9mm,.40, .44, or .45, relatively accurate, it need's to have good aftermarket parts like rubber handgrips and flashlights. I was looking at the Walther P99C but when I test fired it I noticed it lacked a little bit, something just didn't feel right about it. I've fired a Colt 1911 .45ACP before and loved it, but it's just a little big for what I need and I really didn't like the sights on it. I need nightsights. I was looking at a USP too but a lot of people have said those are very large chunky guns and I have kindof small hands, and reccomendation. Price tag needs to be at or below 1500$ though. Thanks :-)
I like the feel of the .40S&W round It's got just enough kick for fun on the range but not so much that it wouldnt be useful in my house.
Hello to all!
I've been looking around for a reliable sidearm for use in skirmishes.
There are three 1911 spring-powered models that I'm considering.
The first is the KWC Smith&Wesson 1911 Ultra Grade.
The second is the KWC Colt National Match 1911A1 Ultra Grade.
Lastly, I'm considering the Tokyo Marui 1911 High Grade Hop-Up version.
The KWC Ultra Grades are powerful, and have an abundance of metal parts.
The Tokyo Marui doesn't have the features or power of the Ultras, but it's made by a highly reputable company.
I've never had the chance to use any of these guns, so I'm not really sure which would be the best choice.
I'm not that concerned with looks or feel.
I'm looking for the gun with the most reliable performance, and the best durability.
And by durability I'm not asking how well it'll hold up to abuse (I take care of my guns).
I'm really concerned with the lifespan and quality of the internals (I don't like replacing guns every summer).
So my question is this:
Which of the three would last the longest, offer the best performance and reliability, and have the overal best quality?
Thanks a bunch,
Stephen
Lately I have noticed that choosing a 1911 is exxxxxremly! difficult.
I am hoping to get some good idea's and suggestions. I am also interested in any idea's involving 1911's but I would like to get some good answers for my question.I have narrowed it down to springfield armory, colt, kimber and wilson combat also I would like to know what people think of sig sauer 1911's
Here are my needs in a 1911:
5 inch barrel match grade
and as many match parts as I can get
night sights
an ACCESSORY rail
extremly accurate
no feeding problems
no extracting problems
I don't care what color or price or what I have to do to get it.
I will be using federal match FMJ 230 grain ammo.
I will be using this firearm for self defense and in the field.
I also want to know if I put a bullet in the chamber and easily let the hammer forward so all I have to do is pull the hammer back and fire
if that will in any way damage the firearm.
And what if any customizations would I need to get a 1911 this good.
Also what makes wilson combat so expensive not that price is a problem or anything.
If "they" try to take my guns "they" will be no more
I also have a glock 19
ok so i have a few questions this is my first gun i bought it for home protection first question is would this be effective as a means for home defense and now the next part im interested in buying a hogue grip will a normal .45 colt grip fit my .38? i also am curious ive been looking at accessories online and see things such as cut out slides to compensators what are those used for? one last question do you think i got a good gun? i paid $573
The gun is in good shape, some normal wear, but not excessive. CTC laser spot grip was added by my father. Went to the gun show this past weekend and was told it was a 1977 or 1976 based on serial number but wanted to know what its worth ballpark before I decide whether or not to part with it.
I own a Sig GSR 1911 and am a huge fan of the Colt 1911 and its clones so I enjoy learning as much as I can about them. I have searched many times for the distinction between a basic colt 1911 ( and clones) and a 1911A1. Wikipedia mentions that the A1 was brought in in the Vietnam era but I can't seem to find any where that tells me what is different about it. Is there any difference or is the A1 just the full model number? If the A1 is different then in what way dose it differ from the basic 1911and what dose that mean as far as buying things like holsters, extra mags and other accessories and add-on's?
One main reason I ask, aside from expanding my knowledge, is I already have some trouble finding extra stuff like I mentioned above, for my GSR, because of the rail and its relative newness on the market. I know that it is a government sized 1911 and that many of the government 1911 aftermarket parts and holsters will work for it but if there is something specific to the regular 1911 or the 1911A1 that will NOT work for it I would like to know before buying something that I can't use.
I have a colt 1911 co2 air pistol. It shoots .177 caliber pellets. The velocity of the air pistol is 425 feet/sec.
In the manual, it says that the colt air pistol is meant to be used for a 6:00 shooting position.
The 6:00 shooting position states that the front sight should be aligned with the rear sight in line with the bottom part of the bullseye of the target.
I am shooting at approximately 25-30 feet away.
Using the 6:00 shooting position, the shots have been grouped at 1 1/4 inches higher than the outer bullseye of the target.
Is this air pistol shooting consistently?
What is the better of the two and why, I am also curious about factors like aftermarket parts availability, out of box accuracy, and durability.
i need some random parts to finish a clone rebuild , any sources ?
Hi, I'm not sure whether this question belongs here or in the Military section, but I'll try here first! I am not educated in these matters so please forgive me if I have made any incorrect assumptions in this question.
The 1911 has been around since, obviously, 1911. It is in .45 calibre and was originally made by Colt, but now many companies produce it. Do I have this right?
What I would like to know is, would a part (or parts) from one 1911, of any date- let us say WW2- fit and work in a completely different 1911 of a different date- let us say, one that came out of the factory yesterday? And would the parts fit, and work perfectly well, regardless of manufacturer as well as date?
Thanks!
Note: I do not intend to try it, I am just curious.
spare magazines and maybe a new barrel
